LFFP Receives WPC "Planting Seeds of Peace" Award

Last night, the Washington Peace Center (WPC) gathered D.C. area peace activists for a celebration of efforts towards a more just and peaceful world. Amidst the festevies including inspiring keynote speakers Kathy Kelly & Fahima Vorgetts, lively music and talented poets, and a variety of treats and unique vendors, ten organizations and their leaders were honored for their exemplary work furthering peace.

Among them, Little Friends for Peace received the "Planting Seeds of Peace" Award. Paul Magno, former WPC Director and current board member as well as the father of one of our summer counselors and former peace kids, warmly introduced the crowd to LFFP's work educating children in the skills of peace. He said that MJ and Jerry's "dedication to their campers and students, as well as their counselors, volunteers, and interns is unmatched and they always do their best to put everyone else first in learning about peace." Upon accepting the award on behalf of the entire Little Friends for Peace community, MJ and Jerry explained to the audience that if we want real peace, we must beging with the children.

Congratulations to MJ and Jerry for leading the effort in planting seeds of peace and to the entire LFFP community for your part in making it happen!
