Sursum Corda Peace Kids Enjoy the Perry Peace Room

Over the weekend, we held a special service learning day at the Peace Room where Georgetown students Matt and Anna joined MJ and six youth from Sursum Corda. The whole group braved the snow to walk up to the Peace Room at Perry. After making snow angels on the way, the kids were excited to warm up in a haven for peace. Everyone said the peace pledge and then checked in with each other by passing around the peace ball and talking about what was bringing them peace and taking away their peace that day. Then they sang songs before making peaceful objects and symbols out of clay. The day ended with a healthy snack and an impromptu talent show on the Peace Room stage. Anna and Matt did a super job as mentors and also shared what they learned in the post-peace activity debreifing. Neither the kids nor the mentors whanted to leave!
